Caterpillar Corner in Pontiac, MI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Lead Infant Childcare Teacher to join our team! You'll play a vital role in creating a safe, stimulating, and loving environment where our youngest learners (ages 3 weeks old - 2 years of age) can thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a warm and engaging classroom that fosters exploration and discovery.
- Help develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with our curriculum.
- Provide attentive care to infants and toddlers, meeting their physical and emotional needs with patience and understanding.
- Assist with diaper changes, feedings, and other daily routines, ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
- Observe and document children's development through clear and concise notes.
- Build positive relationships with children, fostering their sense of security and self-esteem.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child's progress and collaborating on care plans.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient classroom operation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting is preferred.
- Basic understanding of child development principles.
- Strong compassion, patience, and ability to nurture young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain within 6 months) and a commitment to bi-yearly renewal.
- Reliable transportation and availability to work various schedules, including split shifts.
