Do you have a passion for nurturing the development of infants and toddlers? Caterpillar Corner in Pontiac, MI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Lead Infant Childcare Teacher to join our team! You'll play a vital role in creating a safe, stimulating, and loving environment where our youngest learners (ages 3 weeks old - 2 years of age) can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a warm and engaging classroom that fosters exploration and discovery.
  • Help develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with our curriculum.
  • Provide attentive care to infants and toddlers, meeting their physical and emotional needs with patience and understanding.
  • Assist with diaper changes, feedings, and other daily routines, ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
  • Observe and document children's development through clear and concise notes.
  • Build positive relationships with children, fostering their sense of security and self-esteem.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child's progress and collaborating on care plans.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient classroom operation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of child development principles.
  • Strong compassion, patience, and ability to nurture young children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain within 6 months) and a commitment to bi-yearly renewal.
  • Reliable transportation and availability to work various schedules, including split shifts.
