What you'll be doing:

  • Create a fun and safe learning environment for toddlers (ages 2-4)
  • Help develop and carry out lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards
  • Supervise the children during daily routines and activities, making sure they are safe and happy
  • Build relationships with the toddlers, helping them develop their social and emotional skills
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers
  • Communicate with parents about their child's progress
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to keep your skills up-to-date
Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with planning, running, and evaluating classroom activities
  • Help supervise the children and make sure they are safe at all times
  • Take charge of the classroom and the children when the main teacher is not there
  • Help with the children's daily needs like diapering, feeding, and getting them dressed
  • Help keep the classroom clean and safe
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Be reliable and show up to work on time
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and other team activities
  • Be a team player and be respectful of others
  • Dress and act professionally
  • Follow the center's policies and procedures
Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Enjoy working with young children, families, and colleagues
  • Be a team player
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be able to supervise young children
  • Be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and move around the classroom
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Have a negative TB test
  • Get CPR/First Aid certified within 30 days of being hired
Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be enrolled in a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate program and complete it within 90 days, or be working towards an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Must complete 24 hours of child development training every year
